I first contacted Kev while via email as I was gathering quotes to remove our old plaster wall stair rail, replace it with new spindles, carve out the under-stairs space and re-plaster all the walls and ceilings, including a wall that had previously shown signs of damp (now resolved).
While most builders were happy to quote based on photos, Kev insisted on visiting in person to properly assess the work before giving a quote. That was the first sign of how thorough and professional he is.
The End Result Was Fantastic
From the moment he arrived, it was clear Kev had years of experience. He understood exactly what we wanted - even when I didn’t have the technical language to explain it - and he explained everything clearly, in a friendly and respectful way.
We got a few quotes, but went with Kev not just because the price was fair, but because we had a good feeling about the team and we’re so glad we did! It’s hard to know who to trust when you’re hiring for a big job like this, but Kev and the team were everything you’d hope for: honest, reliable and genuinely took pride in their work.
Before work began, we met Claire at the office to go over all the details and receive a welcome pack outlining the process. Claire’s been absolutely lovely from start to finish - friendly, responsive and endlessly patient with my follow-up questions and extra requests!
When the job started five weeks later, the team were brilliant. On Day 1, I expected to come home to a demolition site… but instead everything had been tidied, rubble cleared and floors swept. So appreciated when juggling life with two kids! Lewis, who led most of the job, worked quickly but with real care and attention to detail. He’s a real credit to the team. Then the plastering was done by Nathan and 2 others (sorry I'm terrible at remembering names!) and again we were blown away by the speed, quality and how clean they left the place each day.
The job took 10 days overall and each day I came home amazed by how much had been done and how tidy the house was. You could really see how hard the team were working. The end result is fantastic. We’ve had so many compliments on the hallway (and we've not even decorated it yet!) it’s totally transformed!
If you’re thinking of booking Kev & his team, I’d say go for it. We’re already planning to use them again for our next project!
